CCL’s Championship (formerly known as CCL II in previous year’s league play) is a competitive platform offering both individuals and clubs the opportunity to develop under the same standards as the Premiership. Not only does the Championship offer a fantastic competitive environment but it allows players and clubs to prepare for the future. Our CCL Member Clubs are bringing this experience to players throughout the CCL.
The Championship is for ages 11-19s, boys and girls (varies based on geographic division). The preparation to the league, Championship or Premiership, happens at the NextGen level (the region’s top developmental program for 9-10s, boys and girls).
Championship teams are vying for US Youth Soccer President’s Cup National Championships (USYS) and are winning East Regional and President’s Cup Championships (VYSA) (MSYSA). However, it is the over 2,500 Championship players we are helping develop each day that excites us! The Championship division offers clubs the opportunity to enjoy playing extremely competitive local, and geographically appropriate competition (less travel). Many of the Championship teams compete at regional and national competitions while also having the freedom to play for your High School in front of your hometown community.
Clubs participating in the Championship must earn it. A thorough club-based application must be submitted to begin the process. As all CCL standards are high, the Championship expects better-than-average standards, although less stringent than the Premiership, as the CCL understands Championship level clubs need support and collaboration to allow time for a club to grow and excel. Clubs must go through an application process which includes hosting a complete matchday, traveling away for a complete matchday, club staff interviews with CCL full-time staff, and more. No application will be considered without a full-slate of teams, 11-19s, boys and girls (or based on division structure). With the special exception only given to the 17-19s age bands (due to the birthyear mandate.) Contact Us if your club is interested in joining the Championship. Please note: there is no guarantee that a Championship club will gain Premiership status. We encourage top clubs who want the club-based, club-to-club model, and above average competition, to contact us.
Championship clubs are offered unique benefits as league members. The 11-19s are offered an adidas Fall Festival for competitive local, regional, and league play. A Spring event is available but optional. The 16-17s are offered one Showcase event targeting NCAA Division 3 institutions. On top of this, the CCL offers a College Combine (players must register individually) where top college coaches provide training sessions and coach 11v11 matches. This environment allows the college coach to really dissect the player’s ability and get to know the person. The CCL brings these college coaches and programs to CCL players, you don’t have to travel all around the country.
The Championship provides a one-of-a-kind platform that offers the best in competition, and first-class support for players to develop, and to reach their highest potential!
Finally, unique to the CCL, member clubs receive ground-breaking partnerships never before seen in the youth soccer landscape. Through the Power of League philosophy, where all member clubs unite for the common good, the CCL has executed the very best partnerships and sponsorships with the likes of adidas, soccer.com, United Soccer Coaches, Kwik Goal and more. Each has a direct benefit and discount for the player/family, coach, team, club and league!
